01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

A short walk from the east exit of Komagome Station, Kissa Saera offers hearty café-style meals at lunchtime. Its limited-quantity homemade curry rice comes with a generous piece of pork, slowly simmered until tender. Other choices include classic ketchup-flavoured Napolitan, vegetable-rich meat sauce and spaghetti with shiso leaves, clams and garlic. Each lunch comes with a small side dish and a drink.

For a lighter meal or a break, try toast or a hot sandwich with your choice of filling. Alongside the familiar ham and cheese, fillings include sweet red bean paste with margarine and scrambled egg. They pair well with pot-served tea or carefully prepared hand-dripped coffee. Those in the mood for something sweet can opt for a chocolate cake set with coffee or tea.

Radio plays softly in the dining room, where the tables offer a quiet place to sit, including for solo diners. In the morning, a breakfast option with toast and salad is also available. Smoking is permitted at the seats. Payment is cash only, and during busy periods guests may be asked to limit their stay to 90 minutes.
